This has been named the greatest Christmas film of all time

It’s A Wonderful Life? The Snowman? Elf? Nope – none of these make the cut as the most loved Christmas film of all time.

The 2,000 people surveyed by Hyperfine Media named the best Christmas film of all time as… (drum roll…)

Home Alone.

Yes, young Macaulay Culkin fighting off Joe Pesci with pots and pans has been voted the most likely to give us cheer this festive season.

We can’t say that we’re surprised. What gives more fuzzy, festive feelings than neglectful parents, abandoned children, and the explicit suggestion of imminent home invasion?*

Not a whole lot, it seems.

It might only be November, but we’ll say it: Merry Christmas!

1. Home Alone

2. It’s a Wonderful Life

3. Love Actually

4. The Snowman

5. Elf

6. Miracle on 34th Street

7. Die Hard

8. The Nightmare Before Christmas

9. A Christmas Carol

10. The Muppet Christmas Carol

Of course, the ultimate question that comes from this list is this: is Die Hard a Christmas film?

We’ll leave that one with you.

*Disclaimer: The writer of this article has never seen Home Alone and is just guessing as to what actually happens. We’re aware that this is sacrilege, but hey – we’ll live with it.
